Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.
~Langston Hughes
I cannot recall the first time that I read this poem, I only know that I memorized it immediately and have cherished the words ever since. It is inscribed inside a ring I wear daily. The Lord uses my everyday life to teach me things...most likely because I am too stubborn to slow down enough to listen...He has been doing this for as long as I can remember, and for that I am truly grateful. Langston Hughes' words were one of these said lessons. I know that God is an artist, I see His paintings every night. I know God is an author, I read His words daily. I know God is a scholar, His knowledge is sought after year after year. I know God loves, for He has used His art, His words, and His wisdom to guide me for 24 years.
